This project is a title sequence for a film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West. The novel is infamously violent, examining aggressions between frontiersmen and the indigenous peoples near the U.S.-Mexico border in the late 1800s. The design utilizes historical woodcut and engraved illustrations to contextualize the story. The sequence is set to an unused track from Once Upon a Time in America, composed by Ennio Morricone.
